I was just writing to somebody yesterday that in North America the percentage of people opposed to LGBTQ equality is low, somewhere near 30%. But that minority tends to be passionate and very loud, whereas the ordinary person in the majority is just content for people to live their lives in peace.

So the minority get heard, and the majority tend not to speak up much. I wish more people would speak up and question the hate. Because it is not, as you write, at all rational.
