I very much hope you’re right about this, but I was reading just yesterday that political analysts fear that gerrymandering and other measures the governor of Florida has put into place could very likely lead to Republican control of the House in next year’s federal elections.
While Republicans may not be able to keep their minority grip on power forever via tricks and shady dealings, I think it’s probably impossible to understate the damage they’ll be able to cause for the period of time they do keep that grip.
That possibility, frankly, scares the hell out of me, especially given how crazed and irresponsible the Republican party has become over the past several years.
I oppose them intensely and on principle anyway, but now? With a raging global pandemic, rapidly accelerating global warming, and spiking rates of violence against marginalized minorities, the Republican party is more dangerous than ever.
