I used to work for an agency that did job training and placement for women and men living with HIV and AIDS. Most of our clients were former IV drug users, and the "former" was often more aspirational than realistic.
So, a large part of the work we did was helping connect clients to resources to help them stay sober.
One of our social workers, who specialized in addiction, often repeated that 10% rule of thumb, wish I think applies to other addictions as well as alcoholism.
Some of our clients did very well with NA, which follows an AA format, while others responded better to different forms of treatment. There was certainly no one-size-fits-all panacea.
