I understand what you are saying in principle, and I even applaud you for saying it. I quite agree with you intellectually.
But I have a hard time actually internalizing what you’re saying, because I am on the autism spectrum; I have a very hard time understanding and appreciating humor. I rarely laugh when other people do, because things aren’t funny to me in the same way they are probably funny to you.
It’s worth considering that autism is not terribly rare and that sometimes when you think you are being supportive with humor, your efforts might fall on ‘deaf’ ears.
