I took a deep dive into the far right not long ago when I reviewed a book claiming the transgender “movement” is an organized global Jewish conspiracy to overturn white Christian hegemony. I mean, obviously, the premise is ridiculous, but the Proud Boys / Evangelical / Incel continuum were lapping it up like mother’s milk.

I hadn’t realized how much the far right is unapologetically anti-Semitic. Diving into all that was a serious education for me. I was really surprised that the anti-Semitism extends into the Evangelical world, because Evangelicals tend to be fiercely pro-Israel for eschatological reasons. I learned that many of these same people can be pro-Israel while simultaneously talking up traditional anti-Semitic global Jewish cabal nonsense. Kind of like, “Israel good, liberal banker Jews bad.” It’s kind of nauseating.

Oddly, the same press that published that book was also pushing homoerotic, Nazi-era, German government workout manuals for young men. (Among many other Nazi and Fascist reprintings.) I call the manuals homoerotic because they feature almost naked blond youths in their teens and early twenties exercising in ways most professionals probably wouldn’t recommend today.

It’s beyond me why anybody would want to reprint that outdated stuff, other than to worship the Nazi era in general, and maybe to get off on buff blond boys.

So now we see this guy, Jewish and apparently gay or bisexual, embracing the violently homophobic far right even though he recognizes their anti-Semitism well enough to change his name.

Just wow.
