I think we can effectively generalize this to representation at large. Representation, meaning inclusion or empowerment of influential members of marginalized minorities, is critical. But representation isn’t the end game, equality is.

Representation is sometimes used as a proxy for equality, but we have to be careful that we don’t presume equality because representation exists.
