I think that would be very interesting to explore, Elle. Much of establishment gay male culture embraces patriarchy without even realizing it. Though the younger, queer, generation is loudly pushing away from that ideal. Tensions abound! Fascinating stuff.
If you’d like to try Heinlein, here’s a suggested starting place. Friday is a one-off novel, without any of his recurring characters, and I think it’s a representative sample of how he writes powerful women, and how he idealizes polyamory as a way of life that could be healthy and good for society.
