I think one of the great things about being a queer person is that we got to define our own sense or expression of gender. And sometimes, though, we gay people find ourselves faced with our own set of boxes, imposed by our own communities, that can feel almost as limiting as the boxes heteronormative society tries to force us into.

Speaking as a gay man, I see that in my own communities a lot. Our cultural practices have sometimes solidified into almost mandatory cultural norms — especially among the "influencer" or "lifestyle blogger" set.

It's good to be conscious of this. Thanks for the story!
