I think it’s very instructive to note that some of the same powerful Evangelical families leading churches and denominations today, using their pulpets to condemn LGBTQ people today, are the same people (or are the children and grandchildren of the same people) who fought through the 1970s to keep schools and universities segregated for white people only.

White nationalism, indeed. It has always boiled at or just below the surface of the Evangelical movement.

It behooves us as a nation to remember that.
