I think it's racist to class marijuana, crack cocaine, and heroin users as criminals. Our drug laws were designed to target Black people, and they disproportionately harm Black people. No "drug lords" would exist if our "war" didn't make drugs so ridiculously profitable.

Do you know much about nations where drug use is not a felony? I do. I've lived in some of those places. What's striking about them is they actually have less harmful drug use than in the United States (criminal laws aren't the most effective way to reduce drug use) and the social problems resulting from them are much less severe. "Drug lords" and drug-crime violence are far less prevalent.

Our drug laws actually create most violent drug crime and prop up "drug lords" who would be out of business without the "war."
