I think it might be better stated that violence is the outcome of rhetoric like hers. Just yesterday, I read a news story about a group of high school students in Iowa who jeered and threw objects (including a knife!) at members of the GSA club marching in their homecoming parade.

I think it's no coincidence that the school district in Iowa has been embroiled in anti-LGBTQ rhetoric pushed by state and local politicians, including by district school board members.

There are consequences to demonizing queer people, and violence is one of those inevitable consequences.
