I think it even works that way for adoptive parents, Darcy. Everyone I knew told me what I hero I was for caring for such a deeply unlovable child.

But Brent’s faults were not what I saw! When I bonded with him as a parent to their offspring, all I could see was his beauty and potential. All I could do was be his champion.

Maybe that’s the true beauty of parenthood. Because on an objective level, Brent probably was somewhat unlovable.

Thank goodness my heart didn’t respond to objectivity!
