I suspect there's probably a mixture of motivation. The industry itself generates tremendous amounts of money, so I know you're right that that's an important factor. But also, certain individual actors appear to be sincere, which is all the more horrifying.

I'm much more terrified by people who sincerely hate me than by people who are only in it for the money.
