I suggest maybe it's terrifying for them because they've wrapped their Christian identity around opposition to queer people, around the notion that queering Christian aren't just incompatible but something like opposites.

Or at least that's the idea that I get when I read many Christian publications these days.

Doesn't seem very compatible to me with the teachings of Jesus.
