I seldom write about this, and maybe I should, but as a young man in New York City while I was struggling to get on my feet, I did some sex work for a while.

I know that experiences differ, but I had no problems with what I did other than dealing with stigma. I found the work I did to range in feeling from neutral to somewhat pleasant.

The confidence boost it gave me, and the money (200.00 an hour in 1990 was big money!) set me on my feet and got me established in a new life. I’ve never regretted a moment of it.

But to tell the tale! Oh, my. People are just shocked. Shocked, I tell you. I don’t understand why the stigma has to be so strong, but it certainly is.
