I see this on Facebook all the time too, and it's a huge red flag. It's not just Texas City, which I see often enough. It's Ohio City, Ohio. California City, California. Etc.
Combine those kind of unusual cities with a brand new Facebook profile and a preternaturally gorgeous photo ... and before you know it, somebody is trying to scam you. (Have you heard about the free government money you're entitled to, etc.)
I run into these things because I help administer several Facebook groups for LGBTQ people. We get constant streams of applicants, and when I see Texas City, Texas, I know I need to be very careful vetting membership.
