I see this false equivalence pop up so often, even on LGBTQ support groups on Facebook. We had a big brouhaha just the other day on a group that I help administer. Somebody posted a series of LGBT community flags which included a couple different trans flags.

And immediately, a barrage of non-binary bashing started, with exactly the type of example you’re talking about.

I eventually had to shut the conversation down and delete everything because it was just too toxic.

It’s very, very, very tiring.

Lots of people bravely tried injecting sense. “People aren’t cats. That’s not real. People DO experience gender differently from birth sex. That IS real.”

But it seems lots of people don’t want to see sense or to think. They’d rather ridicule. It’s a discouraging human trait.
