I see it here in rural Michigan too, and I don’t get it. Most hardcore Republicans, especially Trump supporters, refuse to wear masks as a matter of principle wherever they can get away with it. Given how many of my neighbors fit that description, it’s really worrying to go to a supermarket or someplace where I know most people will not be masked.

Big stores like Walmart enforce the policy, but a lot of smaller, non-chain stores don’t.

How wonderful it would have been if Trump had encouraged mask wearing. This crazy political thing would probably never have happened.

It doesn’t make any sense. I just can’t understand it. I can and do, however, fear it. For my health.
