I see a lot of people defending Chappelle. I notice that a unifying thread in their defenses is that they do not understand transgender issues. They don't realize how harmful and offensive Chapelle was in his special, because they aren't listening to the transgender people, many of them people of color, who are explaining exactly how harmful his behavior is.

This is a big problem.
