I'm remembering that when I was about 10 and 11 years old, I often had a terrible time falling asleep at bedtime. I just couldn't do it. I wasn't sleepy yet.

I think the actual problem was an unrealistic bedtime. I don't remember exactly what it was, but it was darn early, the same bedtime my four-years-younger brother had.

I'm no expert, but I don't suppose 10-year-olds require the same amount of sleep as 6-year-olds do. I solved the problem by sneaking a flashlight into my bedroom and reading under the blankets until I was actually sleepy.

Fortunately, my bedroom was the attic, and the stairs leading up were so creaky that Mom couldn't sneak up on me and catch me. 🤣
