I remember watching this with my late husband and an audience of queer folks in New York City. I can't specifically remember if our lesbian friends Harriet and Mary were with us, but they likely were.

I do remember talking about how lesbian spaces in New York City were at risk. And I remember thinking that queer San Francisco, which I had recently visited, hadn't changed all that much superficially since the 1970s.

But it sure has now! I should really watch this film again as a piece of history, which would be quite different to how I watched it when it was released.
