I remember that energy recession well. My father was running two steel pipe and tubing plants at the time, and Texas oil fields were their biggest customers. Demand dried up and the price per lineal foot plummeted.
They limped along for a while, but eventually both the plants closed. I was already in the military at the time, but I followed along closely because my dad was super anxious.
He ended up changing careers and doing fine for himself, but it was a tough time all around.
