I remember a similar kerfuffle when some building codes in the Detroit area started requiring baby-changing stations in larger public restrooms. This only applied to new construction and not to small mom-and-pop businesses, but some people just had to get outraged.

Because the new codes applied equally to mens rooms as womens rooms. Gasp!

Because dads don't change babies? Or because it's "women's work?"

Some people seem really seriously invested in maintaining old fashioned gender norms!

People of all genders care for babies, and sometimes people who use men's rooms menstruate. And you know what?

Civilization will not collapse as a result.
