I relate so much to this! I certainly have preferences in guys. I love men who are blonde and baseball-player trim and fit. Height isn't one of my things, but I love a clear complexion and a super nice smile. Clean shaven, please.
But you know what?
Neither of my long-term partners matched that description!
I mean, they were both plenty handsome, don't get me wrong, especially the one who might be reading this right now. 🤣
But the thing about the photo? Yes!
I would not have paused over a photo of either one of them. Yet ... the heart wants what it wants. I've discovered that the closer I feel to someone and the more I'm attracted to them as a person, the more they physically turn me on.
I once fell for a guy who was remarkably unattractive and who turned out to be a jerk. But that's a different story! 🤣 (Oh my God, you should have heard my friends telling me to break up with him before I finally figured it out for myself.)
Anyway, my point is that we can all have our idealized preferences, sure. But if we keep an open mind about people, we might just delight ourselves.
