I really enjoyed reading about this. My own surname is much more common, and while my family in the US have done a lot to compile our genealogical records here, we have never tried to extend things back into our Irish history.

How many times I’ve heard people casually say, with a name like Finn we have to be related at least somewhere in the distant past.

I’m supposing that really isn’t true!
