I quite agree, but a problem is that school boards have legal authority to do what they do. If the school drama teacher or a school librarian defied the board, they could lose their job pretty darn quick. And that happens sometimes. Professionals resist and take the consequences.

I did not report in the story that the school board in question is meeting again tomorrow, and reportedly quite a lot of the local community will be showing up to express support for the play.

We'll see what happens.
