I published an article several years ago featuring quotes from police officials in more than ten major U.S. cities. Each of them --during a previous anti-trans panic that receded a bit before this one started -- expressed that they had never even heard of trans women (or people pretending to be trans women) causing any sort of problem in a public restroom or changing facility.

That hasn't changed, but the lack of problem-causing sure has not stopped politicians of all stripes from profiting from and feeding the anti-trans frenzy.

Facts don't matter during a witch hunt.
