I promote a lot on Twitter and Facebook using friends links. I have a large fan base on both platforms, which I would never have developed if friends links didn’t exist. I’ve noticed that as time goes by, quite a few of those fans have become Medium members and clap and engage with my stories right on Medium.

One reason why is that I link to other Medium stories in my articles, and I encourage readers to browse my personal publication.

From my perspective, sharing friends links has helped me financially, and has helped Medium gain new paying members.
