I often see the same kind of disingenuous argument with respect to LGBTQ issues. I can't even count the number of times over the past 5 years of writing about queer equality issues that somebody accused me of having a 'victim mentality' because I called out injustice.

But that's absurd. If you and I were victims, Allison, we'd sit back and be silent. We'd accept the status quo and all that means for the oppression of marginalized people.

Victims don't speak out and fight for positive change. Champions do that, and you are most definitely a champion.
