I often feel quite the same way faced with anti-LGBTQ hostility, Darren Stehle. It eats at me a little bit at a time until my toxic stress levels build up to where they don’t need to be.
I think Phaylen Fairchild can relate, as well.
Eric Griggs seems a cooler cucumber than I am, though I wonder how much of that is external and if he’s really so unflappable on the inside.
I know that for me, at least for right now, it’s probably more productive to concentrate on work. I get a lot less done when I try to engage haters. I’m not very good at engaging like that anyway, but to make matters worse, I get distracted from the positive work I actually am kind of good at.
So for now at least, I’m taking a hands-off approach. I’m doing my writing, fiction and essays, but I’m not going to engage homophobes or naysayers one on one.
Until I do. LOL
I do understand where you’re coming from. As I mentioned to Phaylen the other day, social media does tend to artificially magnify toxic voices. That can take a toll that all of us need to be cautious of.
