I need to re-read it! It was actually the first mainstream novel with gay characters I ever read. My closeted gay high school librarian (who was also the director of the theater department) saw to it that I discovered it. I never came out to him, and he never came out to me, but he managed to get me books he thought I needed. I actually wrote a fictional story about him and his subversive bookish ways, lol.
