I managed to find eggs starting just before Christmas and haven’t run out since, thanks. :-) And I didn’t resort to the Amish ones. You know, people get the idea that buying from farms (Amish or otherwise) must be cheap. But farm-soured and organic food is highly sought after. Restaurants and speciality shops in cities buy a lot of what’s available at high prices they know their wealthy customers will pay. Farmers price their stuff accordingly. The Amish are no exception. This isn’t farm country, anyway. It’s traditional logging country with poor soil. People think farms when they think “country,” but there aren’t a lot of farms out here, except in river bottoms. I could keep chickens and I probably should I guess, though it’s not technically allowed in village limits. But I sure wish supply chains would heal or whatever the problem is so we could enjoy a stable, predictable food supply again.
