I love your references. I was there that day in 1991, though I wasn’t one of the Act Up members who climbed the scaffolding. And believe it or not, even then as a young man I had connections to SAGE, volunteering to work the phones for them sometimes and to help them set up for afternoon dances.
I have so many memories of socializing with my queer elders in the garden of the 13th Street LGBT center in Greenwich Village.
Today, I help run Prism & Pen, a publication on Medium dedicated to sharing queer stories. We’re an eclectic mix of people from all stripes of the rainbow flag, and a mixture of elders, baby queers, and everyone in between.
