I love Wikipedia because of its editors' passion for citing and linking to source information.

When I’m researching a topic in preparation for writing about it, I use any number of sources to find information, including Google, Google Scholar, and Wikipedia.

I don’t rely on Wikipedia articles themselves, instead checking out all the footnotes to primary sources. I always discover sources there that I did not find with Google or Google Scholar.

For my money, Wikipedia is not just a very good encyclopedia, but an outstanding curated treasure trove of links to primary sources not readily discoverable elsewhere.
