I love this! And I suppose the principal applies to many pursuits, not just relatively superficial ones like finding a good job. I've rubbed shoulders with men and women who have influenced the world for better, and I think it's fair to say that all of them have had a sort of detail-oriented craftmaster outlook on life.
I'm thinking of people like the writer and playwright Larry Kramer who founded Act Up, like Ann Northrup who left a high-octane broadcast journalism career to lead Act Up's media efforts, and like Peter Staley, a little known hero who almost single handedly advanced the formulation and approval of effective HIV drugs even though his only formal training was as a stock broker. Each of these three exemplified intense craftmaster mentality focused by a single-minded determination to leave the world a better place than they found it. Each of them has earned a spot in the history books.
