I love that painting, Victoria Pendragon!
My Twitter banner has a story behind it. I grew up in a conservative, evangelical Christian family. I considered myself to be an American patriot, and I joined the military, eventually becoming an Air Force officer.
Being gay, though, I was forced to rethink a lot of the assumptions that pinned my worldview together. Within a few years of becoming an adult, I was fully on board with liberal, progressive ideas. I eventually began to despair that the conservative ideals I’d grown up with — the ones that centered around white-hat idealism — were being abandoned in favor of amoral capitalism calculus.
So, my Twitter banner reflects the melting together of my thoughts, and the progression of my thinking.
