I live in western Michigan north of Grand Rapids, and I can report that we have rose breasted grosbeaks all summer long. I generally see more of them during the migration than at other times, but we usually have at least one pair hanging out on the property until late August.
Their song is distinctive enough that I can be on the lookout when one is nearby.
One interesting thing about this species is that their sexual dimorphism is especially pronounced. The females look very different from the males, and it took me a long time to realize what I was seeing.
