I know your piece is meant mostly to be humorous, and it works. I laughed yesterday afternoon while editing it. But you do raise a very interesting point. Snake oil salesmen like Dr. Oz are common on the American scene. I can't watch a YouTube video without getting an ad with some kind of false medical claim in it.

Take these pills and burn fat as you sleep. Take this supplement for longer lasting erections. Etc. When my dad was still alive, he was constantly ordering snake oil from online vendors.

Peddling useless medication like that is supposed to be illegal, but like anything else in the United States, if there's money to be made in it, legal loopholes will be found.

So, enter Tucker Carlson ...
