I know many LGBTQ (and other) Muslims who openly define themselves as “moderate” or “progressive.” So I take issue with your position that calling certain Muslims or groups of Muslims moderate must be insulting.

In this case, I will have to allow my Muslim friends to choose their own identities. If they call themselves moderate or progressive Muslims then I must use their language. Anything less would be disrespectful of them.

Also, if we’re to have true discourse here, we must acknowledge that LGBTQ people living in many Muslim-majority nations are terribly persecuted on Islamic grounds.

Trying to deny that does a grave disservice to LGBTQ people around the world who suffer because of Islamic persecution.

You can quote all the Quran and Hadiths you like, but that does nothing to deny the reality of what real LGBTQ people are really suffering.

I’m not sure the purpose of your article, but it is disingenuous at best, gross falsehood at worst.

If you doubt that LGBTQ people suffer terrible persecution from Islamic forces in Muslim-majority nations, I would invite to examine my correspondence sometime.

I would demonstrate to you how perfectly and totally wrong you are.
