I keep getting these really creepy YouTube ads for a product called Lenses, which I don’t know but suspect might be some sort of photographic filter you can play with on your phone.

The ads feature androgynous looking cartoon figures with very weird eyes that kind of float around to weird music. Emotionally, they make me feel like I’m watching an advertisement for some sort of cult that’s more about sexual abuse than anything else.

Weird reaction on my part? Maybe. But I’m betting some YouTube executives somewhere is rubbing his hands together in glee, cackling, “If this doesn’t get em to pay for the premium version, nothing will. Bwahaha!”
