I just read a news story about a new poll that found that 54% of Democratic voters approve of denying hormone replacement therapy (HRT) to transgender youth. The pollsters did not ask about a distinction between men and women, but I think it's safe to presume respondents were probably thinking about trans girls, because that's what makes the news most of the time.
Speaking of control, the very small number of trans girls in the United States on HRT are on HRT because of the advice of their doctors and the support of their parents. So, the girls in question have made informed choices based on medical advice, and so have their parents. They certainly wouldn't be on medication without the consent their parents.
And yet, 54% of Democratic voters apparently believe that those girls and those parents should not have the right to make informed medical choices on deeply personal matters.
Instead, 54% of Democratic voters apparently believe that it's perfectly okay to pass laws to control people and stop them from living freely.
Just thought I'd throw that in there, in response to your excellent points.
Thank you!
