I just had a profound-ish thought that's probably not actually very profound. It seems to me that that most older straight men presume younger women are interested in them or could be interested in them.
We older gay men, on the other hand, presume younger men are not interested in us. Of course we know there are exceptions, but you don't find a lot of older gay men running around cruising young gay men. There are common terms for older gay men who do that, and none of them are flattering, not even when the older gay men are very wealthy, which is the only time that kind of thing actually works.
Anyhoo, I bet those differing assumptions do quite a bit to flavor worldviews and thinking.
