I imagine she'd be shocked if she did much traveling. When I first moved to Germany in the early 1980s, I have to admit I was a little shocked that my women age peers (early to mid 20s) rarely shaved their legs or
their armpits. Sometimes they did if they were getting ready for a fancy occasion, but usually they did not.
Add to my shock the fact that public nudity in appropriate places (like beaches, spas, and some public parks) was very common.
So, actually seeing unshaven body hair on women was correspondingly common.
That was one of my first powerful lessons in the fact that beauty standards vary widely from culture to culture.
Sounds like something the woman who tried to bully you needs to learn!
