I hope more people start waking up to the immoral reality of what the state of Israel is doing right now. Sadly, we in the West are often conditioned to be less than horrified by atrocities.
I don't know why this sticks out in my mind, but some New York Times reporting from a few weeks ago really got to me. Meaning it really infuriated me.
Israel bombed and flattened four apartment buildings in Lebanon, announcing that they had been attempting to kill a leader of Hezbollah.
The French press focused on the horror. Photographs of rescuers frantically searching through the flattened conflagration that remained of the four buildings, trying to drag out children and others who were burned and crushed to death. Video of wailing mothers tearing out their hair as their dead children were dragged out of the rubble.
French reporting also mentioned that many people would certainly die in the rubble, unable to be reached.
I saw nothing like that in any mainstream US news reporting.
The New York Times wrote a big article about the bombing, focusing on Israel's hunt for that Hezbollah leader. They mentioned four flattened apartments, and they mentioned that victims were being recovered. But they did not report on the horrifying reality of it.
And then this line:
"It is unknown if [Hezbollah leader] was in the buildings."
I'm sorry, but what the fuck!?
Of course he was not in the buildings! What a morally depraved thing to print! He MIGHT have been in ONE of the buildings. He was absolutely not in ALL of them. I shouldn't even have to write that. Obviously, I must have more intelligence or more likely more morals than the reporters and editors at the New York Times.
The Times used that ludicrous language to paper over the harsh horror — that Israel intentionally killed hundreds civilians, including many children, in the hunt for one man.
Nothing could be more morally depraved and disgusting than that.
They killed children on purpose!
They are some truly sick, disgusting pieces of shit.
No decent human being should ever accept that sort of moral atrocity, that highest order of evil.
Last night, I read somebody defending the state of Israel for its conduct in Gaza and Lebanon, saying that Israel is just conducting warfare like humans have always conducted warfare, and that we should just understand that.
Well, I can't and I won't. I categorically refuse to accept the killing of unarmed non-compatants and especially of children who are just going about their lives in their own fucking homes.
I if that's what it really means to be human, then where can I turn in my human card?
I hope you're right that Israel is committing suicide. Because somebody needs to do something to stop those depraved, vicious, evil monsters.
They are the very worst of humanity.
