I hear you! Just this morning, I commented on an article in Prism & Pen by Rand Bishop, a Grammy nominated singer-songwriter and older queer man who finds himself isolated and lonely, unable to afford rent anywhere in the United States with actual queer community.
I'm in a similar situation up in rural Northwest Michigan. Cost of living here is very very low, but my plans of moving back to Detroit or to any city where I can find queer community are on hold, and probably permanent hold, because I just can't afford it.
