I haven't seen the HBO series, but maybe I should. I read "Sharp Objects" just a few months after it was first published and thought myself quite fortunate (along with the other members of my fiction-writing workgroup) to have "discovered" her.

What polished little gems of novels she writes! She pushes boundaries of proprietary, spotlights important women's issues, and she opens closet doors to expose the cultural monsters we like to pretend don't exist.
