I had totally forgotten about this film! My late husband and I watched it in New York City shortly after it was released. I don't remember the exact circumstances, but I think it was a limited showing at an art house. (Maybe the Angelica?) LGBTQ communities in NYC were all abuzz about the film, probably as much as we became about "To Wong Foo," but the latter was a lot easier to see. I first watched it at a suburban shopping-mall cinema with friends, surrounded by suburban cis-straight people.

I suspect "Wedding Banquet" faded from my memory, despite being a delightful film, because relativey fewer people were able to see it, meaning fewer people were talking about it and writing about it.

I'm so glad to see you writing about it. I'm glad to hear it's available for streaming now. I really want to watch it again!

Thanks for your review of a film I loved but no longer actively remembered!
