I guess it's a little bit like Americans and gun violence. People I know in the UK and Europe see the headlines and come to believe we're all at risk and live in fear, especially if we have children in school.

And ... that's not totally wrong. Gun violence is something we think about sometimes. But mostly we just go to work and school, leading our lives, because that's how life works.

About a year ago, I watched a travel series by a young Canadian couple who sailed their own boat down from Vancouver to the Gulf of California. They spent months exploring the Baja peninsula and the mainland in that part of Mexico, visiting towns and villages that don't (for the most part) have a tourist trade.

I had such a great time watching them explore markets, parks, and town centers as they gave viewers the best peeks of real Mexican life that they could capture on camera. And nobody selling trinkets or mixing cocktails in tourists' mouths, lol!

You don't see that kind of thing in the movies very often.
