I get so frustrated on Twitter by short attention spans. I don’t really enjoy Twitter, but I use it to promote my own writing, and I feel I really have to.

But, oh! The care I have learned to take in composing a tweet. The finesse required to understand just how Joe Twitter somewhere may misconstrue or take out of context what I tweeted, without bothering to dig into the article I’m tweeting about.

There’s still value in the exercise, because I have earned faithful and interesting readers from the process. But if I had my druthers …
