I found a very small turkey to roast, which helped make the day a little bit more special even though I had to spend it alone. Eggnog and the scent of Christmas candles helped connect me to the holidays and feel unified with people I love.

And of course, Sam and Elsa, my dog and cat, conspired to keep me on my toes. ;-)
